I'm a regular with NOW supplements and so I decided to start with them. I have no complaints. the absorbency is fine, and the flavor is fine. I don't take the capsules and when mixed with food, I can't even taste it.
After working with physicians for over twenty years I learned how to examine a research paper.
When my pain started over ten years ago, I researched populations where less than 20% of the population suffer from OA. Each of these areas have diets rich in fruits, and those fruits, in turn, with high concentrations of fructoborate: a chelated boron.
Boron plays an important part in the development of joints.
Managing my blood sugars is difficult, and fructose only complicates the problem.
Supplements with fructose like fructoborate contribute to high blood sugars. However boron does not. Since I started taking boron, some, but not all, joints. For me, the hips were the worst. After a few years I have seen improvement and maintained it. Unfortunately it has not helped my neck or knees.
If you are in a similar situation, talk with your doctor to consider the potential risks and benefits for you.
For me, I’ll keep it up and hope for the best.

Abstract
The trace mineral boron is a micronutrient with diverse and vitally important roles in metabolism that render it necessary for plant, animal, and human health, and as recent research suggests, possibly for the evolution of life on Earth. As the current article shows, boron has been proven to be an important trace mineral because it (1) is essential for the growth and maintenance of bone; (2) greatly improves wound healing; (3) beneficially impacts the body's use of estrogen, testosterone, and vitamin D; (4) boosts magnesium absorption; (5) reduces levels of inflammatory biomarkers, such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α); (6) raises levels of antioxidant enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase; (7) protects against pesticide-induced oxidative stress and heavy-metal toxicity; (8) improves the brains electrical activity, cognitive performance, and short-term memory for elders; (9) influences the formation and activity of key biomolecules, such as S-adenosyl methionine (SAM-e) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD(+)); (10) has demonstrated preventive and therapeutic effects in a number of cancers, such as prostate, cervical, and lung cancers, and multiple and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma; and (11) may help ameliorate the adverse effects of traditional chemotherapeutic agents. In none of the numerous studies conducted to date, however, do boron's beneficial effects appear at intakes > 3 mg/d. No estimated average requirements (EARs) or dietary reference intakes (DRIs) have been set for boron-only an upper intake level (UL) of 20 mg/d for individuals aged ≥ 18 y. The absence of studies showing harm in conjunction with the substantial number of articles showing benefits support the consideration of boron supplementation of 3 mg/d for any individual who is consuming a diet lacking in fruits and vegetables or who is at risk for or has osteopenia; osteoporosis; osteoarthritis (OA); or breast, prostate, or lung cancer.
I'm so excited to have read about and start taking Boron supplement. It sounds like all living things on earth need it:)

So my recommendation now is to begin at 3mg and slowly go up to 6, after a few weeks to a month!
I was officially diagnosed with arthritis in the left hip in October (at the age of 38!), so it is indeed arthritis that the Boron is treating for me. It has made such a huge difference that I tell everyone I meet about it, and I hope you will tell everyone you know too. So many people are suffering from arthritis pain, and we can help them! Spread the word.
****Update: Aug 24 - After some research, I learned that Boron was indeed causing my mysterious rash. So I cut my dose from 6mg to 3mg/day (morning), and the itch/rash started healing up. The downside to this, however, is that after about 10-12hrs (end of day), my usual hip pain begins to break through. I’m going to experiment with adding back another 3mg dose (taken separately at night) and hope this doesn’t cause the rash to return. But just FYI for new users who might experience a rash, be aware that lessening your dose seems to help curb the dermatitis side effect, while also still preventing pain for several hours!****
Alright, listen up. I looked everywhere for real, personal reviews before I ordered this, so I would know if it was worth trying for my particular issues, so I’m going to try to be as detailed as possible in my review, to help future people like me in their search for reviews.
First of all: I have suffered from slowly worsening bone pain in my left hip for over 10 years. I’m relatively young (37), and doctors don’t really take me seriously about it, but I’ve always suspected it’s arthritic. In the past year and a half, after a knee/calf injury, the pains have sorta “joined together”, and I often experience shooting pains that seem to connect my hip injury/issue to my knee issue, and even down to my foot.
Just last week, I was at the point where I was literally limping from the pain. I was icing it and massaging it every night, to no avail. I have an X-ray scheduled for later this month, but I was in total misery just trying to get through the days.
I actually was researching Borax for totally unrelated stain-removal purposes when I coincidentally ended up finding a Google result about Borax vs arthritis. And now, here we are!
I’m on day 6 of taking 6mg of boron (2 pills/day). As of yesterday, day 5, I realized that the “idle ache” shooting from my hip through my thigh, that I had grown accustomed to living with, was gone. I sat down on a concrete step, which would usually cause the whole bone in my butt/hip to ache, and I was in 100% comfort. The only way I feel pain right now is if I directly press on the hip through my skin. Then, it’s tender. But the idle ache, the shooting pains, the limping misery... it’s gone.
Now, this being said, as of yesterday, I’d also developed a strange rash on my chest and stomach that I’m really hoping is not related to the supplement. But I’m not a person who normally gets rashes from anything in daily life... so it could definitely be related, as the Boron is the only change in lifestyle right now.
It sounds unreal, and crazy, and I really am stunned, because I never expected this supplement to work so well or so fast. But I have no other explanation for the sudden absence of pain. It has to be the Boron. It works!
One of the most interesting things I had read in my research prior to ordering was that a study had found that people in areas of the world with high boron content in soil (where food is grown) have extremely low arthritis rates, whereas people in areas of the world with low boron in soil have extremely high arthritis rates. This information seemed legitimate enough for me to take a risk and try this supplement. If you are on the fence, I’d say take a look around online, and read the results of that study too. It seems to me that the researchers were clearly on to something, because my life just changed for the better.
Good luck to all.
